Human communication is much more than just exchanging words. It relies heavily on the emotional state and mindset of the people involved. While technology has eliminated physical barriers, internal mental blocks remain the greatest threat to effective social progress and daily interaction. This book examines how psychological factors serve as a mental filter to disrupt, warp, and completely halt successful communication moreover, by means of secondary resources it also explores the root causes of these internal blocks and provides actionable methods to overcome them. The book is contained on four parts and twelve chapters, the first part introduction is contained on one chapter which introduces psychological barriers and communication. The second part emotional barriers is contained on three chapters as stress and anxiety, emotional imbalance, and fear of judgement. The third part perceptual barriers is also contained on three chapters as prejudices and stereotypes, different frames of reference, and selective perception. The fourth and last part cognitive and behavioral barriers is contained on five chapters as lack of attention or daydreaming, premature evaluation, defensiveness and distrust, resistance to change, and low self-confidence.
