The resurgence of atheistic thought in the modern era, fueled by scientific materialism, secularism, and philosophical skepticism, has posed significant intellectual and theological challenges to religious belief. Among the prominent Muslim scholars who addressed these challenges, Bediuzzaman Said Nursi (1877–1960) developed a distinctive methodology that combined rational inquiry, Qur'anic exegesis, and spiritual insight to defend faith against atheistic arguments. This paper examines Nursi's approach to refuting atheism, with reference to his monumental work, Risale-i Nur. Employing a qualitative and analytical methodology, the study explores the epistemological foundations of Nursi's thought and his use of reason (ʿaql), observation of the natural world, and Qur'anic evidence in affirming the existence and unity of God. Rather than relying on polemics, Nursi presents a constructive and persuasive discourse that harmonizes revelation with rational reflection and scientific observation. His method addresses existential questions concerning creation, purpose, morality, and human consciousness while critically engaging with the assumptions of materialism and naturalism. The paper argues that Nursi's methodology remains highly relevant in the contemporary intellectual landscape, where religious belief is increasingly challenged by secular worldviews and digital dissemination of atheistic narratives. His integrative approach provides a meaningful framework for dialogue between faith and reason and offers valuable pedagogical insights for contemporary Islamic theology and religious education. By highlighting the enduring significance of Nursi's intellectual legacy, this study contributes to current discussions on Islamic responses to atheism and the renewal of rational religious discourse in the twenty-first century.
