Abstract

In modern era, it is an important need to adopt various techniques to make the teaching successful. For this concern higher thinking skills play a vital role for the development of cognitive abilities of learners. However, there is still challenge to adopt appropriate techniques during pedagogical practices in classroom. The major objective of this study was to implement the innovative teaching techniques during teaching for the enhancement of students’ higher thinking skills. This study is qualitative where fifteen perspective teachers were selected from secondary schools in Lahore as participants through purposive sampling technique. To assess the practices of teachers in implementations for enhancement of thinking skills five factors were evaluated such as; students’ engagement, learning environment, institutional support, teaching strategies, assessment methods. The findings revealed that rest of the factors assessment techniques and usage of technology other factors showed moderate implementations. So, this study provides innovative techniques to excel conducive learning environment for students.
