This research presents a comparative and analytical study of the portrayal and critique of Judaism in two prominent 20th-century Urdu exegeses of the Indo-Pak subcontinent: Tafheem-ul-Qur'an by Syed Abul A'la Maududi and Tafseer-e-Naeemi by Mufti Ahmad Yar Khan Naeemi. Focusing primarily on Surah Bani Isra'il and Surah Al-Kahf, the paper examines how both scholars address the theological deviations, moral degeneration, and historical decline of the Israelites. The study reveals that both exegetes view the Qur'anic discourse on Judaism not as a mere historical narration, but as a perpetual moral, political, and spiritual curriculum for the Muslim Ummah. However, their analytical frameworks differ significantly. Syed Abul A'la Maududi employs a socio-political, historical, and rational methodology, framing Judaism as a civilizational challenge and interpreting Israelite history through universal laws of societal rise and fall. Conversely, Mufti Ahmad Yar Khan Naeemi adopts a traditional, theological, and mystical approach, emphasizing the defense of orthodox Islamic creeds, internal spiritual reformation, and the refutation of theological doubts. Ultimately, the paper demonstrates that these two exegeses do not contradict but rather complement each other, offering a multifaceted understanding of Qur'anic discourse on Judaism.
