This research explores the Qur’anic and Prophetic criteria for attaining divine proximity and becoming among those beloved to Allah. It examines “belovedness” not merely as a spiritual ideal but as a concrete and achievable goal rooted in faith, ethical excellence, and purposeful action. Drawing upon explicit Qur’anic verses where Allah declares His love (yuhibbu) for specific qualities, and authentic Hadith that exemplify these traits, the study identifies key attributes such as taqwa (piety), ihsan (excellence), tawbah (repentance), sabr (patience), tawakkul (trust in Allah), adl (justice), taharah (purification), and jihad fi sabilillah (striving in Allah’s cause). Each attribute is discussed with textual evidence, classical scholarly interpretations, and its relevance to contemporary Muslim life. The paper emphasizes that divine love is not confined to ritual worship; it encompasses a complete way of living that harmonizes inner spirituality with outward moral and social conduct. By aligning personal character with these divinely endorsed qualities, believers not only secure Allah’s pleasure but also positively influence their communities. The Qur’an’s repeated mention of these qualities across sixteen distinct contexts demonstrates their centrality to Islamic ethics and spiritual success. Ultimately, the study highlights that the path to divine proximity requires continuous self-purification, sincere devotion, and active service to humanity—leading to tranquility in this life and ultimate felicity in the Hereafter.
