Abstract

The study examines the methodological and stylistic features of Hashiyah Sindhi on Sunan Ibn Mājah. The essence of any Hadith commentary lies in the principles adopted for interpretation, the sources consulted, and the exegetical style employed. In this work, the commentator demonstrates a balanced approach, presenting Hadith in a simple and accessible manner while also engaging in necessary scholarly discussions to address the needs of advanced readers.

A notable aspect of the commentary is its reliance on Qur’ānic verses as primary evidence for clarifying Hadith, thereby making the intended meanings more comprehensible. Where required, the commentator applies principles of uṣūl al-fiqh to distinguish between categories of rulings such as wājib, farḍ, sunnah, and mustaḥabb. Rich engagement with classical sources and the works of the Salaf further strengthens the commentary’s scholarly value. Moreover, the author addresses apparent contradictions between narrations and provides reconciliations in line with the methodology of early scholars, offering clarity for both students and researchers.
