Child Education and Training in the Light of the Prophetic Seerah: ﷺ An Analytical Study of Contemporary Challenges and Practical Solutions

Abstract

Child education and upbringing hold a central position in the development of a morally upright and socially responsible generation. Islam, being a complete code of life, provides clear guidance for every stage of human life, including childhood. The Prophetic Seerah (ﷺ) serves as a perfect model, offering principles based on compassion, wisdom, and gradual development in child upbringing. This study explores the significance of the Seerah in shaping children’s moral, intellectual, and spiritual development, particularly in the face of modern challenges. Contemporary issues such as the weakening family structure, parents’ preoccupations, the lack of Islamic values in modern educational systems, and the influence of technology and media pose serious threats to children’s upbringing. This research critically analyzes these challenges while presenting practical solutions derived from the Prophetic example. Key recommendations include incorporating Islamic ethics and Seerah-based content into curricula, encouraging parental and teacher training workshops, promoting ethical use of technology, and fostering a culture of respect and responsibility in children. By drawing upon the holistic guidance of the Seerah, this study argues for a balanced educational model that not only addresses current societal challenges but also nurtures children into becoming individuals with strong moral values, spiritual depth, and practical competence. The findings emphasize that aligning modern child upbringing with Prophetic teachings ensures a sustainable solution for the crises of values in today’s world, thereby contributing to a more ethical, harmonious, and resilient society.
