Abstract

This study explores the scholarly and practical dimensions of Qur’anic recitation (tilāwah al-Qur’ān) through a critical examination of the Aṣār al-Ṣaḥābah (traditions and practices of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ). It analyzes how the Companions understood, preserved, and applied the principles of accurate recitation, including pronunciation, rhythm, reverence, and humility. The research emphasizes both the theoretical foundations and practical expressions of Qur’anic recitation as reflected in early Islamic pedagogy. By evaluating the evidential authenticity (istinādī ḥaythiyyah) of relevant traditions and their interpretative applications, this work highlights the balance between form and spirit in reciting the Qur’an. The Companions’ model demonstrates that tilāwah is not merely vocal articulation but a profound spiritual and ethical engagement with divine revelation, forming a comprehensive framework for both personal piety and communal guidance in Islamic thought and practice.
