The attainment of sustainable social development is intrinsically dependent upon the establishment of a just and durable peace. Contemporary global frameworks, particularly Sustainable Development Goal 16, underscore peace, justice, and institutional integrity as essential pillars for human flourishing. This study offers a rigorous scholarly investigation into the Islamic paradigm of peace by examining primary scriptural sources the Qur’an and Hadith and juxtaposing them with the normative architecture of SDG 16. Through a thematic and textual analysis of Qur’anic injunctions and Prophetic practices, the research elucidates the ethical foundations of peace, including the sanctity of human life, the obligation of justice, conflict mitigation, communal harmony, and institutional accountability. The study critically evaluates present-day global challenges political polarization, sectarian fragmentation, structural violence, socio-economic disparities, and governance deficits and assesses how Islamic epistemology provides robust theoretical and practical mechanisms to address them. It further argues that the Qur’anic conception of ‘adl, ihsan, sulh, and rahmah encompasses a holistic peacebuilding framework that aligns closely with modern developmental discourses. By integrating Islamic normative teachings with the operational priorities of SDG 16, this research proposes a multidimensional, ethically informed model for fostering resilient societies, strengthening institutions, and promoting inclusive development. The study concludes that Islamic peace ethics, when systematically harmonized with contemporary global development goals, offer a comprehensive and sustainable blueprint for addressing modern social crises and achieving long-term human development.
