Abstract

The 21st century has witnessed a surge in works written in Urdu that address the field of Orientalism, specifically its critiques of Islamic teachings and personalities. The books discussed in this article provide insightful reflections on how Orientalist scholars have historically misunderstood or misrepresented Islamic beliefs, particularly the life and message of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the Quran. These works not only defend Islamic narratives but also dissect the biases and flawed arguments presented by Orientalists. The analysis includes a detailed examination of major works such as "Muhammad Rasulullah: A Critique of Orientalist Views" by Professor Muhammad Akram, "Orientalism and English Translations of the Quran" by Professor Abdul Rahim Qadwai, and others. These books aim to correct misconceptions about Islamic beliefs and provide readers with a deeper understanding of Islamic thought in response to Western critiques. The article highlights how these works continue to shape modern discussions on Islam, providing both scholarly critique and defense against misinterpretations by Orientalists.
