DOI:

This research presents a psychological analysis of Hussain Ahmad’s poem Matiza, which portrays the tragic consequences of a girl’s secret marriage without parental consent in Pashtun society. The poem reveals the intense emotional suffering of the girl, the trauma of her parents, the humiliation of her siblings, and the pervasive societal stigma. It reflects how personal choices, when conflicting with cultural norms, lead to shame, guilt, and social exclusion. The study argues that Matiza mirrors the deeper psychological struggles between individual freedom and rigid socio-cultural traditions.
