Abstract

Islam has granted women a dignified and honorable position in every aspect of life, particularly in matters related to financial rights. Through the laws of dower, dowry, and inheritance , Islam has established a balanced and just economic framework for women. However, in the socio-cultural context of Waziristan, these rights are often influenced by traditional norms, tribal customs, and patriarchal attitudes, which sometimes overshadow the principles of Islamic law. This research aims to examine the concepts, practices, and perceptions related to women’s financial rights in Waziristani society and to evaluate them in light of  Shariah teachings. The study employs a qualitative research method, drawing upon Qur’an, Hadith, classical jurisprudence, and modern sociological studies, supplemented with field interviews and case analyses from the local community. Findings reveal that the payment of mahr is often symbolic rather than substantive, dowry has become a matter of social prestige rather than necessity, and women’s inheritance rights are frequently denied due to cultural pressures and family traditions. The study concludes that promoting awareness of Islamic principles and implementing them within the socio-tribal framework of Waziristan can ensure justice, equity, and the restoration of women’s rightful economic status, thereby contributing to social harmony and ethical reform.
