Abstract

Human life is full of emotions. Whether these emotions are of joy or sorrow, the words that come from the heart due to the intensity of feeling can be called a song (Geet). In this way, the song has emerged as an important aspect of human life.​Literary experts have explained the song in various ways, keeping in view its wording, structure, and style of expression. Based on the style of delivery, songs are divided into different types. In Saraiki literature, the song exists in its full glory and has been categorized according to its themes, structure, and the occasions on which it is performed. The fundamental themes of Saraiki songs include pain and sorrow, separation, Manqabat, politics, harvest songs, Mahiya, Tappa and etc.
