Abstract

Food plays a fundamental role in sustaining human life by providing the energy required to maintain the vital relationship between body and soul. As long as the human body remains alive, it depends on nourishment to sustain cardiac movement, blood circulation, and respiration. These physiological processes enable the continuous supply of oxygen and ensure survival. Physical fitness is a composite state that includes strength, endurance, flexibility, agility, balance, and mental well-being; true fitness is achieved only when both physical and psychological aspects are sound. Islam, as a natural and comprehensive religion, offers clear guidance regarding the quality, quantity, and timing of food consumption, emphasizing moderation and balance. The Islamic concept of health is rooted in harmony with human nature (fitrah), as deviation from natural principles leads to physical, moral, and spiritual decline. Central to the Islamic dietary system is the distinction between halal (lawful) and haram (unlawful), which forms the foundation of both spiritual and physical well-being. Halal nourishment nurtures spiritual growth, whereas haram food is likened to a destructive poison that can cause mental distress and chronic diseases over time. Islam views human life as a sacred trust from Allah, making the preservation of health a moral responsibility. The Qur’an repeatedly commands the consumption of lawful and wholesome (tayyib) food, highlighting its significance for human welfare. This study analytically examines the dietary practices of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) within this Islamic framework, exploring how his food choices exemplify moderation, simplicity, and alignment with divine guidance, thereby offering timeless principles for a healthy and balanced life.
