Social Media & Personality Development: Challenges & Prospects (In the Context of Pakistani Society)

Abstract

This research examines the impact of social media on personality development within Pakistani society, highlighting both its transformative potential and inherent challenges. Social media platforms enable self-expression, creativity, learning, and social connectivity, contributing positively to personal growth. However, difficulties such as comparison culture, cyberbullying, misinformation, and excessive screen use negatively affect emotional and social development. Contextual factors, including cultural norms, gender-based barriers, and limited digital literacy, further shape these outcomes. It concludes that while social media offers significant potential for constructive personality development, its benefits depend on responsible use and improved digital awareness.
