Language documentation is a critical tool for preserving linguistic diversity, safeguarding endangered languages, and maintaining cultural heritage. This study explores innovative approaches to language documentation, focusing on the use of digital technologies, multimedia tools, and community-driven participatory methods in South Asia. Employing a qualitative research design, data was collected through audio-visual recordings, field interviews, and ethnographic observation of speech communities. The study examines how digital archiving, mobile applications, and online collaborative platforms enable the preservation, analysis, and dissemination of languages that face the risk of extinction. Findings reveal that combining traditional fieldwork with digital tools enhances accessibility for researchers and community members alike, while also fostering intergenerational transmission and cultural awareness. Moreover, community participation in the documentation process empowers speakers, strengthens linguistic identity, and ensures ethical preservation of cultural knowledge. This research underscores the potential of technology-mediated language documentation to not only preserve linguistic data but also promote cultural sustainability and social inclusion.
